Matteo Thun, the architect and designer who was born in Bolzano, studied with Oskar Kokoschka at the Academy of Salzburg and the University of Florence. After meeting Ettore Sottsass, became co- founder of the group ‘Memphis’ in Milan and partner of Sottsass Associated since 1980 to 1984. He was professor of design at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna (Hochschule für Angewandte Kunst, Wien) since 1983 to 2000. In 1984 he opened his studio in Milan and became Art Director of Swatch since 1990 to 1993. Matteo Thun & Partners with partners Luca Colombo, Herbert Rathmaier and Antonio Rodriguez develop architecture and design projects. The studio staff has 50 professionals, including architects, designers and graphic designers.
